WellStop is very appreciative of the funding and support we receive to offer services in the community. The funding picture is complex however, so the following aims to explain that complexity. WellStop’s funding for Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB) comes largely from government contracts, mainly Oranga Tamariki and Ministry of Social Development (MSD). All funding, except the Sexual Harm Crisis Support Service funding, is limited to a number of places so at times we have to run a waiting list.
Oranga Tamariki-Ministry for Children fund our two main programmes that provide services for children and youth who present with concerning or harmful sexual behaviour. For these contracts, children (4-12) can be referred by Oranga Tamariki or from the community, young people (13-18) can be referred by Oranga Tamariki and we do have some limited capacity to accept referrals from the community for young people (13-18).
Some of the regional offices of Oranga Tamariki fund smaller contracts for services such as prevention education, social work support, or for brief intervention with children or youth referred from the community. These differ according to each region, and some areas don’t fund any of these services
MSD funds adults referred from the community for harmful sexual behaviour in all areas. MSD funds the Sexual Harm Crisis Support Service that we run in four locations: Taranaki, North and South Ruapehu, and Wairoa
Department of Corrections fund youth and adults who have harmful sexual behaviour
Ministry of Health fund Adults with an Intellectual Disability who have harmful sexual behaviour
ACC Sensitive Claims provides funding for victims of sexual abuse who meet ACC criteria
Not all services are available in every area. Please see our Service Locations for what is available in your area.
WellStop also applies for grants from the philanthropic sector to support our work and development. We gratefully accept any donations.
